Character Changes

It is expected that over time of playing a character, you are going to want to change something about them that perhaps just traditional leveling up doesn't allow for. That is what this section is for, whether that is to change something about your existing character, or to send them away (either permanently or temporarily) to play a new character.

New or Returning Character

Ready to send a character away, whether that be permanently or temporarily? Or want to bring one back that had been stored? Then focus on these sections.

Rework

Want to change up one of the characters you currently have? It can be something as simple as changing some of their spells, or even more intensive like swapping up their subclass. Then focus on this section here.

Storing

Storing is the process of temporarily sending a character away while allowing yourself to pay another character, or if you feel like you just need to take a break from playing.

Rules

  • A character may not be stored to avoid in character consequences, unless following the rules for storing a character in jail.
  • A person may store and unstore characters a maximum of eight times a year, regardless of if they have one or two minecraft accounts.
  • You may store a single chest of belongings when you store a character, which may include backpacks (shulker boxes).
  • A stored character may be snapped without being unstored first, however their stored items will not be allowed to be dispersed.
  • A character must be stored for a minimum of 30 days until it can be unstored or snapped.
  • You can only have one stored character per account, with a maximum of two for players with two minecraft accounts.

Steps

1. In order to store a character, first ensure that you have limited yourself to what you are allowed to bring with you. Transfer or sell any rented properties and hand off any items that may be important to certain eventlines.

2. Open a ticket in our Character Development area.

Snapping

Snapping is the process of permanently making a character unplayable, granting a bonus to your next character.

Rules

  • A character may not be snapped to avoid in character consequences.
  • A character may not be snapped if they have existed for less than 60 days.
  • A person may snap a characters a maximum of six times a year, regardless of if they have one or two minecraft accounts.
  • Snapping a character allows for your next character to begin with an extra amount of exp equal to 1/4 of the snapped character's.
  • Character snapping is permanent. There's no coming back from it, keep this in mind.

Steps

1. In order to snap a character, make sure to give out any items and properties that you wish to disperse, especially items that may be important to certain eventlines.

2. Open a ticket in our Character Development area.

Reworks

Partial Reworks

Partial Reworks

Partial Reworks

A Partial Rework is a change to a character that includes minor changes to their build. A player may use one Partial Rework per character every four months, these months not being interrupted if a Full Rework is done between them (for example, you do a Partial Rework, two months later you do a Full Rework, you can do another Partial Rework two months later). Below if a full list of what may be changed in a partial rework:

  • A rearranging of levels (you may not add or remove classes)
  • Switching Spells
  • Changing Backgrounds
  • Swapping Feats
  • Switching Profiencies
  • Changing Ability Score Orders (you may not change the number itself, only which score it is assigned to)

Partial Reworks

A Full Rework is a changing of a character that can change anything except for the character's race and backstory (NOT background). This can range from anything to doing a complete change from playing a cleric ranger multiclass to playing a fighter, or something as simple as wanting to remove a dip level into a certain class that you regretted. There are a couple of key things that must be kept in mind:

  • You can only use a full rework on a character three times in their existence.
  • Full reworks may only be done before level 17.
  • Exceptions may be made to changing a race with permission from the server owner (Hidden) or a majority vote of the DM team.

DM Initiated

Partial Reworks

DM Initiated

A DM Initated rework is a situational rework in which may be triggered if something happens during a DM's event or actions where the DM feels like they should offer a major change to a character, if the player would so take it. This may only happen once during a character's life, and should be initated by the DM, not requested by the player OOCly, though a character may ask about it. Below are some examples of what this may look like:

  • A vampire NPC offers (or with player permission forces) a character to turn into a dhampir.
  • A cleric turns against their god, instead taking on a warlock patron to get the same sense of power.
  • A NPC spend a lot of time training with a character, allowing them to shift their already existing Tough feat to Crossbow Expert.

Additionally, this is currently the only means in which one may play a dragonmark race.

Undoing a Rework

What happens if you do a rework and then immediately realize that you regret it? There is a period in which a player may revert a rework, as long as it meets the following criteria:

  • It has been a week or less since the rework was approved.
  • You haven't participated in more than one event since reworking.
  • You haven't undone a rework more than twice with the character.

To request a rework, follow steps similar to applying for one, with a much simpler form:
